Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet will hold the admission test for the 2024-25 academic year. The test is for the first year, first semester Bachelor programs. The exam will be on Friday, February 28, 2025. Exams will be held in the morning and afternoon. There are two units for the test: Unit A and Unit B. The Unit B exam will be in the morning. The Unit A exam will be in the afternoon. Students who passed the HSC or equivalent exam in science can apply for both Unit A and B if they meet the requirements. Students from other backgrounds can apply only to Unit B if they meet the requirements.

SUST Admission 2025

The application for SUST Admission 2025 will be online only. The application period is from January 5 to January 25, 2025. Apply through the website: admission.sust.edu.bd.

The admission test will be held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, and other schools in Sylhet City. The test may also be held in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rangpur, and Jashore schools. Please note that seats in Dhaka centers are limited. Once the seats in Dhaka are full, you cannot choose Dhaka as your exam center. However, seats in other cities are open. If you want to apply for Architecture (ARC) department under Unit A, your exam will be held only at SUST, Sylhet campus.

SUST Admission Test Date

The SUST admission test will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025.

  • Unit B Exam: 10:30 AM (Morning). Please be in your exam hall by 10:00 AM for the Unit B exam.
  • Unit A Exam: 3:00 PM (Afternoon). Please be in your exam hall by 2:30 PM for Unit A exam.

Application Eligibility

To apply for the SUST admission test, students must have passed HSC or equivalent exams in 2023 or 2024. They also need to have passed SSC or equivalent exams in 2021 or 2022.

Unit A Eligibility:

  • Students from science background need to have a total GPA of 7.0 in SSC and HSC exams.
  • They must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both SSC and HSC.
  • In HSC/equivalent exam, they need to have a GPA of 3.5 in Math (or B grade in A Level Math).

Unit B Eligibility:

  • Students from science, humanities, and commerce backgrounds can apply.
  • They need to have a total GPA of 6.5 in SSC and HSC exams.
  • They must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both SSC and HSC.

GCE Students:

  • For GCE students, they need to pass at least 5 subjects in O Level with B grade in 3 subjects.
  • In A Level, they need to pass at least 3 subjects with B grade in 2 subjects.

Diploma in Engineering Students:

  • Diploma in Engineering students need to have passed SSC or equivalent exam in 2019 or 2020.

Equivalence for Diploma and GCE:

  • Diploma in Engineering and GCE students need to email their documents to [email protected] by January 12, 2025.
  • SUST will check their documents and inform them if they are eligible.
  • Eligible students need to apply online and pay the fees by January 25, 2025.

Foreign Students (Bangladeshi Nationals):

  • Bangladeshi students who studied abroad also need to send their documents to [email protected] by January 12, 2025 for eligibility check.
  • Required documents are: passport-size photo, passport/citizenship certificate, certificates and mark sheets for 10th/O Level/SSC/equivalent and 12th/A Level/HSC/equivalent grades.
  • Eligible students need to apply online and pay the fees by January 25, 2025.
  • At the time of admission, students must submit original copies of all certificates and mark sheets.

How to Apply

To apply for the SUST admission test, you need to apply online only. Go to the website: admission.sust.edu.bd. You can find the detailed admission manual on this website: admission.sust.edu.bd/applicationprocedure.pdf. Steps for Online Application:

  1. Visit the website: admission.sust.edu.bd.
  2. Sign up using your HSC passing year, board name, roll number, and mobile number (your own or parent’s).
  3. You will receive a User ID and Password via SMS to the mobile number you provided.
  4. Sign in to the website using the User ID and Password.
  5. Fill out the online application form.
  6. You will need to provide your SSC registration number, board, roll number, passing year, and GPA.
  7. Upload a scanned photo of yourself (300×400 pixels, within 100 KB).
  8. Select the Unit you want to apply for and any reserved quota if applicable.
  9. Submit the application form.
  10. You will get a Bill/Reference Number and the amount of fees to pay.
  11. Information about payment methods will be shown during the online application process on the website.
  12. After successful payment, you will receive your Admission Roll Number via SMS to your mobile number within 24 hours.
  13. You can also login to admission.sust.edu.bd using your User ID and Password to see your Roll Number and other details.
  14. If you want to apply for both Unit A and Unit B, you need to complete two separate applications using the same User ID and Password.

If you are applying under a reserved quota, select the quota option during online application and upload the required documents online. You can select only one reserved quota option.

Important Note: Once you have completed the application and received the Bill/Reference Number, you cannot change your photo or any academic information.

To download your admit card, you need to sign in to the website: admission.sust.edu.bd. You need to print two (2) copies of the admit card for each unit you applied for. Print the admit card in color on white A4 size paper. You must bring two (2) copies of the printed admit card for each unit to the exam hall. You can download your admit card from the website admission.sust.edu.bd starting 72 hours (3 days) before the exam date.

SUST Seat Plan 2025

The seat plan for the admission test will be available on the SUST admission website. You can find your seat plan 72 hours (3 days) before the exam date. The website is: admission.sust.edu.bd.

SUST Admission Test 2025

The SUST admission test will be an MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) exam. You must use a black ballpoint pen to fill in the OMR sheet. Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the exam hall. Only certain models of calculators are permitted. You can find the list of approved calculator models at: admission.sust.edu.bd/calculatormodels.pdf.

The question papers will be in Bengali. However, if you want the question paper in English, you need to request it in your application form. This option will be available when you fill out the online application form.

Entering the exam center, every student must bring a black ballpoint pen and two color print copies of the admit card for each unit on white A4 size offset paper. Calculators of specific models are allowed in the exam hall. Details about calculator models are available on the admission website (admission.sust.edu.bd). Mobile phones and all kinds of electronic devices such as smartwatches, headphones, electronic hand bands, electronic hair bands and similar devices are strictly prohibited with examinees in the examination hall.

Marks Distribution

The admission test will be out of 80 marks, with 80 questions in total for both Unit A and Unit B. The exam duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes for both units.

Unit A Exam Details:

  • For all groups in Unit A (Group-1 & Group-2):
    • Total Marks: 80, Total Questions: 80
    • Subjects:
      • Physics: 20 marks
      • Chemistry: 20 marks
      • Math: 20 marks
      • Biology OR English: 20 marks (You can choose either Biology or English)
  • For Group-2 (A2) Architecture Department:
    • After the main exam, there will be an additional exam for Drawing and General Knowledge related to Architecture.
    • This additional exam will be for 30 marks and the duration is 1 hour.

Unit B Exam Details (For Science background students):

  • Total Marks: 80, Total Questions: 80
  • Subjects:
    • English: 15 marks
    • Bengali: 10 marks
    • Physics: 15 marks
    • Chemistry: 15 marks
    • Bangladesh & International Affairs: 10 marks
    • Math OR Biology: 15 marks (You can choose either Math or Biology)

Unit B Exam Details (For Humanities & Commerce background students):

  • Total Marks: 80, Total Questions: 80
  • Subjects (Compulsory – 65 marks):
    • English: 15 marks
    • Bengali: 15 marks
    • General Math (Secondary Level): 15 marks
    • Bangladesh & International Affairs: 10 marks
    • ICT (Information and Communication Technology): 10 marks
  • Subjects (Optional – 15 marks):
    • Humanities Group: Questions will be from Economics, Civics, Sociology & Social Work, and History (15 marks).
    • Commerce Group: Questions will be from Accounting and Business Policy & Management (15 marks).

SUST Admission Result 2025

SUST Admission Result 2025 for A and B Unit will be Released on 9 March 2025. Every student will be able to know their result through the university’s admission website (admission.sust.edu.bd).

The admission test results and admission information will be announced later. You will find the results on the university notice board and website: admission.sust.edu.bd. Only one department will be offered to each student. Department allocation will be based on merit, subject eligibility, and your preference, and seat availability.

Final Admission

When you come for final admission, you need to bring some documents and money with you. You will need:

  • 4 recent passport-sized color photos.
  • Original mark sheets of SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent exams.
  • Original testimonial/certificate of SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent exams.
  • Money needed for admission.

You also need to bring two (2) photocopies of each certificate and mark sheet. After admission, your original HSC/equivalent mark sheet will be kept by the university. If you are admitted under a reserved quota, you must bring the original certificate provided by the relevant authority.

Conclusion

SUST admission test for 2024-25 is not under the GST system. SUST will conduct its own admission test. This year, SUST exam will be held in Sylhet and some other major cities. So, students can take the SUST admission test in their own city without coming to Sylhet. However, if you want to study Architecture (ARC) in Unit A (Group-2), you must come to SUST, Sylhet for the exam.
